Agate mineral from Brazil are selected for use (material softer).

 

The agates are cut into small slabs.

 

From slabs, they are then cut into square bars, then cut into octagonal bars for final shaping.

 

Using lathe machine to shape into form of Dzi bead. After shaping, new beads will be sanded and polished before chemical paint is applied to form motif.

 

Most of the new Dzi beads production need to go through heat treatment for the chemical dye to penetrate and last.

 

New Dzi beads production uses sharp circular or semi-circular puncher to create weathering marks, It is then place in a drum filled with sharp objects, corundum or steel nails are vibrated to polish and bring out the sheen or lustre.

 

The last process is to drill hole with metal drill or ultra sonic boring.
